Second Apology

I’ve just gotten word
that in some countries
my second apology did well—
quite well. One elderly man
defined it as “attractive,”
said only my apology inspired him
to go swimming each morning
and hiking each afternoon
in order to take in
the scope of my apology.
In one country my father
is slated to appear on tour
as my apology
and shout sporadically
at the delighted audience.
One scientist is using it
in an attempt to retrain vines,
or maybe it was her dogs.
Is that what you wanted?
Of course it is. Even my apologies
lead the wrong life
and make me have to be sorrier
