Du Fu in Airdrie

It’s springtime, and the cauld blast
brings a bloom o’ the hacks tae your hauns.
Girse sproots in a bookie’s gutter,
while in the doorway two auld pals
brood in silence ower their fags.
Kids scuff a ball between schoolbag goalposts.
A van’s unloaded at the Koh-i-Noor.
And right enough, the spring is here,
as beautiful as sinew.
