Auld-farrant Boss o Apollo

Translated from the German by Colin Bramwell

We couldna ken his capernoitie croun,
whaur een o aiples maumied. Aye an on
his boss like a gasoliery leamin doun
the glower, awbesit shaveled back,

it hauds an glisters. Ense his bent bilk
winna glamour ye, nor coud the slicht kinch
o his loins contain a crack-brained smirk
whit travailed tae the middlins growthie cock.

Ense this stane wid staund laich-set an mankit
ablo the shauder’s kirstal soothwards drift
an wadna skimmer like a tacksman’s pell

an wadna burst its ruinds like licht shankit
fae a starn, fur fae here there is nae stell
that winna see ye. Maun, change yir life.

Archaischer Torso Apollos

und flimmerte nicht so wie Raubtierfelle;
